The department offers application based Postgraduate (M.Tech) Degree program in water resources development, irrigation, climate change impacts, remote sensing and GIS in water resources and environment sustainability. The department is vigorously involved in research and development in the area of water resources engineering and management. Also, department provides consultancy services for flood &amp; drought control, water supply (irrigation, domestic, etc.), groundwater development and water resources sustainability. The main objective of the department is to develop manpower that can take a part of sustainable development and management of available water resources.<\/p>\n<h4>Thrust Areas<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\tHydrology (Surface and Sub-surface)<\/li>\n<li>\tWater Resources Planning and Management<\/li>\n<li>\tClimate Change Adaptation<\/li>\n<li>\tFloods and Drought Management<\/li>\n<li>\tRS &amp; GIS Application in Water Resources<\/li>\n<li>\tGroundwater Management<\/li>\n<li>\tIrrigation Design, Planning and Management<\/li>\n<li>\tStochastic Hydrology<\/li>\n<li>\tWater Supply Management<\/li>\n<li>\tIntegrated Water Resources Management<\/li>\n<li>\tSoft Computing in Water Resources Management<\/li>\n<li>\tReservoir Operation and System Analysis in Water Resources<\/li>\n<li>\tWaste Water Supply Management<\/li>\n<li>\tWater Quality Monitoring, Modelling<\/li>\n<li>\tWaste Water Management<\/li>\n<li>\tSolid and Hazardous Waste Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Facilities available<\/h4>\n<p>The department is well equipped with high end workstations, server systems and various software for image processing, GeoSpatial data handling and land use land cover classification (ERDAS Imagine, GeoMedia, TerrSet and ArcGIS), software for rainfall-runoff modelling including flood inundation mapping (MIKE Hydro Basin, MIKE SHE and MIKE FLOOD 1D &amp; 2D), software for storm water modelling (MIKE Urban+ and PCSWMM) software for groundwater modelling and management (MIKE FEFLOW, Hydro-Geo-Analyst &amp; Visual MODFLOW) and equipments for advanced terrestrial and aerial survey using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), DGPS and Total Station. The department also having the facilities of GeoWeb server platform and application to process large-scale geospatial data and handle, analyze and manage UAV and satellite imageries.<\/p>\n<h4>Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy Projects<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\tUltra-high resolution Aerial Survey and Design &amp; Network Planning of UGPL Irrigation System in Bilaspur District, Chhattisgarh.
